The Eureka Week, organized for all future students to meet Rotterdam and its associations. Of course, Alcedo was there. At the events organized by Erasmus and the association parties, a group of orange shirts could be spotted. Thank you again for the enthusiastic members who were so free to make a hole in their busy agendas to help us promote this splendid society.
It all began way too early on a Monday morning with the official launch of the Eureka Week with an opening ceremony in de Doelen. There, 5 Alcedians tore over the stage to show in 10 seconds what Alcedo members are. In the evening there were also some orange shirts at the opening party in the Maassilo.
The following day there was information market on the Erasmus campus. Here, enthusiastic associations with colorful decorated embroideries with full surrender were invited to meet upcoming students to join their association. Alcedo was no exception in this regard. With wild conviction, Eurekaweek attendees were flooded with true marketing cries like: “But, Alcedo is truly the best student association!”. Of course, we were not discouraged by answers like: “Oh no sorry, I really can not skate.” Because a true Alcedian knows that Alcedo has nothing to do with Ice skating.
On Wednesday, Alcedo was at the sports dinner organized by Erasmussport. Here we stood on a lawn, in the burning sun at about 30 degrees, to promote ice skating. We have mainly learned that young people, with the promise of a possible water icecream, can even be convinced to work out in these circumstances. There were many students who tried to achieve the highest speed on the cycling bike.
All in all, we have been able to enjoy this wonderful day by watching how the handsome future students clenched each other with a pillow on a pole.
This wonderful week we can end with the “color your world festival”
Where all associations made one last attempt to recruit poor soul. We with Alcedo went for a more “casual approach” this day, mainly reflecting that Alcedo also has plenty of room to relax.
In short, it was a top week, made possible by a top team of fanatic Alcedians! And hopefully we will grow the Alcedo family!
